Bodes rather ill for free to play lotro

DDO: European players are still hanging in Limbo

It has dropped a little off the radar, so let’s catch up with how the transfer of European DDO accounts from Codemasters to Turbine is going.
Essentially, it isn’t.
On August 19th, 2010, the European Dungeons and Dragons Online servers were shut down, meaning that the characters that European players have been playing since launch were lost to us. We are still waiting for our characters to be transferred, as promised, to the US servers.

I think I have said several times I don’t like how codemaster treats their players and how they support lotro. However from this, it looks like turbine is not very interested in the players of european servers* either.

*because everyone knows that the south africian’s can sometimes outnumber the swedes in lotro/wow/dnd in europe, so no point not mentioning them.

The summer festival is fun. Have everything for the summer horse beyond the gold. However it will not take long to get that too.

There are new items this year, and a new summer horse.

You can also see pictures of the different summer housing items on casual stroll to mordor.

Lotro goes free to play.
(Because I like it as it is now and I bought the lifetime not long ago)

I got the lifetime sub offer codemasters was offering this week.
It was offered at 75 sterling which in their checkout became 110 euros.

While the euro price is heavily inflated from the advertised sterling price its still a good deal.

For the same price as around 8 month sub, I get a lifetime subscription. And since I am very unlikely to stop playing the game in the next year ( I have been playing on and off for over a year) it works for me.

You can read the patch notes in lotro life.

Also log in today for this (for europe)

The Writ of Virtue: This special scroll will show the Bards that you know the value of revelry and celebration! The Writ grants a passive skill that gives you a 20 percent discount with Bards all across Middle-earth. Starting on April 21st and running throughout the celebration, we’re giving all current, new and returning subscribers a special gift: the Writ of Virtue, a reward for loyalty and a steadfast heart. But you have to come to the party to get your gift; make sure to log into the game between April 21 and June 30th for this token of our appreciation. Note: You must have space available in your Character’s inventory for the writ to be granted. Please confirm that you have free space (more than one slot is recommended)available before you log out on Tuesday April 20.

I hope I did not miss it anyway as I was busy all day yesterday. It does not sound like it though. *fingers crossed*

Update: I got the date wrong, codemaster patch is out on thursday 29/april

Check out what we can expert for the third year party

April 24th marks the 3rd anniversary of Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) and the game is celebrating!
Here’s what’s we know so far.

Everyone who logs in between April 21st and June 30th will receive a Writ of Virtue. This writ when used grants a passive skill giving you a 20% discount with the Bards of Middle-earth! Make sure you have at least one bag space slot open so you can get it!
The monsters of Middle-earth also get involved by dropping tokens that can be bartered in for gift boxes and party favors.

News on the horse vendor:

Here’s what Sapience says the game plan is for the Spring Festival and the Festival Horse Barter NPC.
The last day of the Spring Festival is April 19 (Monday).
There will be an update on Wednesday April 21 that will restore the Horse vendor.
On April 21 the Spring Festival will start again and will run through Monday April 26. This gives you time to not only trade your tokens for your horse but also to play all the content again in case you haven’t earned your horse yet.
Finally, when the Summer Festival arrives this summer we will also turn on the Spring Festival Horse Barter NPC to allow everyone who collected their items a final chance to trade them for their Spring Mount. This should help those who have their tokens but won’t be able to log in during the April 21-26 time frame. Oh and there will be an new Summer Mount as well (but you’ll need to earn summer tokens for that one!).

Update: Just to confirm this vendor will not be back for codemaster’s until next tuesday.

I didn’t spend a huge amount of time gaming this weekend.

Wizard 101 and did a few quests.
Guild wars. I am very slowly making money and mats. I am not strong enough to move forward in the eye of the north area missions or locate the new mission area in prophecies. I don’t currently want to do the other campaigns on this character and don’t want to speak too much time leveling my other alts until I can finish it on my warrior. So its grind, which I sometimes am in the mood to do but not so much this week.
Lotro. Mostly just playing my minstrel (no current gaming plan) and guardian (approaching 20).
Mabinogi eu. Spent only a short time playing this. I am in a part where I am dieing a lot so its hard to know what to do next to stop that.
Littlebigplanet. Spent most of Saturday playing this game with 3 friends. Super fun on the ps3. The little toons are cute and so customizable. The puzzles are interesting and seem balanced.
