The Chronicles of Spellborn is bankrupt

Posted on: July 1, 2009

The Chronicles of Spellborn has gone bankrupt.

I’m sad for the developers but not surprised. I tried their trial and it came with a virus. The trial was also buggy and I could not finish a quest.

It was a very unpleasant experience for a trial so I was planing to never try it again (or at least wait for a game disk or their own website download).

I’m happy for the players that frogster is picking it up and turning it free to play. Good luck guys, frogster isn’t a bad company and they treat their games well.

Well, Frogster was their publisher from the beginning in Europe and Asia, Acclaim in the Americas and Britain. So actually, Frogster let them down by underpromoting it in Europe from the very start. Plus (for those who could run it), the MMO is significantly harder than most MMOs, which tended to turn off the casual player. Lastly, the heavy promotion of its PvP tended to make it even more a niche game.

Eh that sounds like a series of badness.
