I like North Burb. I like the storyline so far, I like the buildings and I like the people. The lightbearers are amusing and have taught me how to make sage tea.

I really should make my alt a lightbearer. I like to see their storyline in sector two and sector three.

The spiders however I think make this town hard to start with. I’m way above that level now (level ten) but if you were level one getting swarmed by the spiders you would be in trouble.

Free Realms: Festival of Hearts

Posted by: warhammermer on: February 9, 2010

I love how Free Realms does festivals. They are really good and fun. We also can expect another one this week.

According to Free Realms Insider:

Later this week, Free Realms is scheduled to kick off the Festival of Hearts, a special month long event that celebrates love, friendship and kindness.

All players will be able to participate in themed events, daily social activities and storyline quests that incorporate traditional items and rewards which embody the holiday: hearts, candies, forget-me-not cards, flowers, love potions and more. Heart Breakers are invited too, as even the Stone Hearted can participate in the world events that ensue.

New Hippo, Tiger, Beetle, Groundhog and Owl pets will also be available in the Marketplace.

Zam’s post on the Festival of Hearts also has confirmed this.

I’m looking forward to this.

I skipped one quest so far in the towns I have been in. I though the plot for that guy seemed nasty so I checked if he gave ap (no) and moved on.

I’m heading towards north burb now.

I think there is more atmospheric towns than south burb. Dizzy was funny through.

I’m going to try to make more effort to gather information in order to help others leveling. However its very easy to forget about that and enjoy the experience. I love the exploring and the atmosphere. I hope the game keeps that as it develops.

I don’t think the bars add much to socialization yet. They are easy to miss and you don’t need them for anything. However maybe we will see them being added to events. That doesn’t mean I think they should be removed (more content = better) but perhaps the developers need to keep working on the social angle.

I think people would be delighted to see swg entertainer type build enter the game (perhaps as a social build mutation/skill?). Currently the social/buff type builds are not all that popular, so there is a chance we will see them get improved.

Free Realms: Baby penguin

Posted by: warhammermer on: February 8, 2010

You can see the picture on the baby penguin post on free realm insider. He is cheaper than I expected too at 250 sc.

the baby penguin retails for 250 SC and he glides around like he’s ice skating, flies and spins around on his head like he is breakdancing as his tricks. Interestingly, this pet penguin is about twice the size of the penguin mask penguin.

There was an offer recently where free realms gave out station cash for a competition. However if you do need to spend money he works out as 2.50 euros or 2.50 dollars depending on your region.

Lotro: Volume III, Book I Preliminary Release Notes

Posted by: warhammermer on: February 8, 2010

Some fishing changes are coming in. I think they all look good and will add to the fishing experience.

Fishing
We have made some changes to the fishing advancement system. In general, fishing skill advancement should be a bit more consistent and quicker, particularly at higher levels of skill.
Regional fishing treasure profiles have been significantly altered. Many types of fish can only be caught in certain regions now, making it easier overall to catch the specific fish you are looking for. Some types of rare fish related to barter rewards and/or deeds have been moved to new regions entirely, and may not be available in regions they could previously be caught in.
Vendors do not sell bait items anymore, as these items are no longer used to enhance the chances of catching a fish

We are also getting to add notes to friend and ignore lists. That will be useful

Players may now add notes to their friend and ignore lists.

They are also adding duoing skirmishes

Duo mode is now available for skirmishes!
Certain skirmishes will now give you an option to play as a 2 person group.

See the full patch notes. Remember they can change.

EverQuest 2: City Festival

Posted by: warhammermer on: February 4, 2010

My Kerran in Gorowyn was doing the city rep quests to buy items for her Inn house. Not too difficult and easy xps. I bought the scroll stand which looks nice and the basket of raspberries.

I also claimed some of the pets that I get for free from having some of the expansions. I did the same on my fae so the pets are walking around my inn rooms now.

I finished a city collection (so many purple collectibles around i was vendoring them) also. Apparently when the city festival is in town more of them spawn. its good for low level money as each sell for about a silver to a vendor, or you can sell them in the auction house for more. I put 4 in the auction house for sale (I only have one bag there yet) and vendored the rest.

I get lost pretty often in Gorowyn, and I don’t find it super easy to kill mobs but I think I am begining to get comfortable with the game. I’m a lot less lost with the guild.

Mabinogi eu: Gem hunting

Posted by: warhammermer on: February 4, 2010

You need 1 green gem, 1 red gem and 1 blue gem for the pet event.

I got 1 green gem just by handing in the small gems for the quest from the inn keeper and got the red gem as a drop from the second dungeon quest from the grocery store guy.

I now just need 1 blue gem. Apparently mimics drop them a lot. I am not sure which method I will try for to get it.

I also found this guide to titles in mabinogi that you might find helpful if you want to collect them.

Playing this week

  • Fallen Earth
  • Lotro
  • Guild Wars
  • EQ2
  • Beta testing
